Advent-Epiphany 2015-16
Our Advent journey this year will be guided by scripture readings that suggest a world longing for freedom from the chains of injustice and sin. Bound as we are by personal, communal, and societal struggles, there is a path of justice, mercy, trust, and love emerging in our world. Heeding the voices of prophets like Jeremiah and Mary, the church walks with the expectation that encountering God among us is not only the truth of the first Christmas, but a real possibility for our lives today. This worship series will include choirs and instrumental ensembles as well as biblical storytelling and preachers from the congregation. Pastoral staff will be serving as worship leaders. As one small Advent practice to free us from the crush of many good things to do, we will not have verbal announcements in worship during this season. Announcements that are relevant to CMC will continue to appear in the Newsweekly, We welcome everyone to worship with us this season as we seek a more profound and peaceful experience of these weeks leading to Christmas. We’re also providing some Advent resources for individuals and families. Choose a devotional, Advent calendar, or a set of Advent candles for use at home.
