Monday, October 13, ACRS Breakfast Presentation, brings Ann Graber Hershberger, Chair of MCC US Board of Directors, will help us understand and examine the way MCC is functioning since the major restructuring in 2010. The title of her presentation:  “Approaching the 2020 Centennial: MCC as a true binational partnership”. A special note:  Since the EMU West Dining Room is also being used as a classroom this semester, the ACRS Breakfast will begin promptly at 7:30 AM and will dismiss at 8:45. 

The Walk for Our Community Place, Saturday, October 18. This is a family oriented and fun filled day! Your support helps us support the many people who come to our community center seeking help with their personal and financial struggles. Below you will find information about how to register for the event. We welcome teams as well as individual walkers. Please feel free to phone me so that I may encourage you to participate! Skyline Literacy will hold a tutor-training workshop for volunteer tutors who would like to help community residents improve their English speaking, reading, and writing skills.  The training will be held on Saturday, October 18, 9 AM to 2 PM, at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church.  Lunch will be provided.  Please register by phone or email at 540-433-0505 or skylineliteracy@gmail.com.

Author and cultural historian Mary Helen Washington visits Eastern Mennonite University Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 to discuss her new book, "The Other Blacklist: The African American Literary and Cultural Left of the 1950s." The Thursday evening lecture is 7 p.m. in the seminary’s Martin Chapel. Washington will also offer “Reflections on the Journey” Friday at 10 a.m. chapel in Lehman Auditorium. Everyone is welcome.
