CMC: Fast Forward . . . from the hopeful albeit soggy post-Easter season into early signs of summertime warmth with the latest photo collage just posted on the "CMC Today" bulletin board on the west wall of the fellowship hall.  This display features the final Sundays of our "Resurrection Life" worship series and the start of an emphasis on the "Journey Forward" process with Mennonite Church USA. The journey, the journey might be long, but also more doable and exhilarating when we share it together. Just do it! — Jim Bishop

In Tune with June.  Another visual feast awaits you on the "CMC Yesterday" bulletin board on the east wall of the fellowship hall with a poster of activities from late spring 2013 and a June 2014 collage that includes the installation of associate pastor Dayna Olson-Getty, Pentecost Sunday and communion. Come, for all things are now ready. — Jim Bishop

MDS in Puerto Rico needs you! Mennonite Disaster Service and Puerto Rico needs you! MDS has rebuilding projects underway, there is a labor shortage on the island, and many "regular" MDS volunteers are busy as builders and farmers over the summer months. CMC's own Murch family (John, Jennifer, Jonathan, Rebekah, Caroline and Nicolas) are stationed at Ponce giving oversight to one of the MDS house projects. Several other sites need volunteers too. MDS is covering travel and onsite expenses. All you need to offer is time and sweat! Skilled workers are highly valued, but they are happy with people who are willing to work hard with unskilled labor. To find out more, go to this website and fill out the form indicating timing and skills. If you don't have specific answers, add a note about your schedule and interests. MDS will contact you to work out a plan that serves everyone's needs. You can note at the end that you know the Murch's and would be glad to work at their site if possible. Regardless, Murches will try to come to other sites to visit CMC MDSers. Can't go? Maybe you know someone who can! Share this information with friends and family far and wide, Mennonite and other traditions. The best way to get your questions answered is to be directly in touch with MDS, though you can chat with Joe Yoder, Sam Miller and Andrea Wenger who have also been in touch with MDS.

Greening CMC : Speaking Out.  The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) reports on successful lobbying efforts to help pass the PREPARE Act.  This act helps the nation respond to natural disasters due to extreme weather, such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, which a recent study suggests was responsible for nearly 5000 deaths.  Join FCNL’s advocacy voice by subscribing to their “Inside the Greenhouse” and other updates.
