Where the Good Way Lies
Community Mennonite Church
Epiphany Season 2016
What’s after Christmas? Old routines and new resolutions emerge during these weeks, and the church celebrates Epiphany–the culmination of the Advent-Christmas-Epiphany cycle. Old routines and new resolutions come together in the concept of an encore. The Servant in Isaiah proclaimed: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. Jesus of Nazareth was called up for the encore performance of this good news and the world has never been the same since. During the season of Epiphany CMC will worship together in light of Jesus’ announcement of good news for his time and place and seek “where the good way lies” for his followers today. We invite you to participate in our membership Covenant Renewal process or become a member of this community for the first time, to share in the retirement ritual when we celebrate CMCers entering their encore vocations, and join the wider church in hearing the Revised Common Lectionary scripture passages for each Sunday.
