Annual Covenant Renewal

At Community Mennonite Church we annually renew our membership covenant with God and each other in a Covenant Renewal Sunday. On Sunday, Dec. 13 members are invited to renew their covenant by writing and sharing “100 word testimonies.” This year we are not able to sit together around tables, so we will instead share these testimonies with each other in small groups through Zoom during fellowship time. Our CMC Covenant Litany describes what membership means to CMC.

For 2021 Pastoral Team and Council have chosen Isaiah 42:6 as a guiding scripture for CMC.

I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness,
I have taken you by the hand and kept you;
I have given you as a covenant to the people,
a light to the nations.

How might these words guide Community Mennonite Church throughout 2021?  How does this verse address you personally?  Everyone is welcome to prepare a “100 word testimony” in light of our Covenant Litany and Isaiah 42:6.  You are encouraged to write out your testimony ahead of time.

On Sunday morning we will gather together at 9:30 on Zoom for an opening and then be placed in breakout groups where participants can share testimonies with one another. Although it will look and feel different this year, we anticipate a meaningful time of sharing and committing ourselves to lives of discipleship, ministry, worship, and love.

If your small group would like to be grouped together in a breakout group, please have a representative of your small group contact Ben Bailey by Saturday morning.
