CMC Events and Announcements

In addition to our regular offering, which funds the ministries of CMC (worship, outreach, community life, pastoral care & leadership, children & youth) during August and September we will also have a “noisy offering”. CMCers are encouraged to bring coins for Mennonite Central Committee and Virginia Mennonite Missions. These will fund a clean water project in Jordan, the work Jail Chaplain-Jason Wagner, and E³ Collective holistic short-term mission experiences. We’ll pool our change with that of other Mennonite congregations in our region. Last year about $23,5000 was raised, so bring your coins!

This Sunday is potluck at Morrison Park behind Waterman Elementary School.  Please bring food to share as well as your own plates, cups, and silverware.  We will provide water to drink and serving utensils.  You may want to bring blankets and chairs to sit on.  There will be cake after church to celebrate Dayna's ministry.  We'll get started with potluck about 30 to 45 minutes after that.

CMC seniors upcoming homemade ice cream social: Friday evening, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. at CMC fellowship hall.  We will enjoy "Texas Rook" (promise it will be enjoyable) and then homemade ice cream with toppings and sides.  Bring finger foods or toppings if you do not have an ice cream freezer.  If you have a freezer and can make ice cream let me know. (Joan Kauffman: kykauffmans@yahoo.com)  Mark your calendars.

David and Sophie Lapp Jost's "Final Israel Prayer Letter" is posted on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall.  They will be transitioning to Bammental, Germany this fall.  If you'd like to receive their prayer letters and updates, they will be happy to send them to you.  Their email address is lappjost@gmail.com.

You're Invited! A benefit concert to support Jay and Sheri Hartzler’s ongoing ministry in Romania will be held on Sunday, August 11, at 4 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church. Jay will direct a choir of former EMHS touring choir members and he and Sheri will share stories of their work in Romania.  If you can’t attend the concert but would like to support the Hartzler’s ministry, checks can be written to CMC and marked Hartzler-Romania.

Do you have a couple hours Wed. from about 11 am – 1pm free? Patchwork Pantry are looking for help with unloading the truck and setting up the kitchen for Wednesday evening pantry. We could use one to two persons each week. We'd be open to setting up a schedule if multiple people were interested. You need to be able to lift heavy boxes and push carts loaded with heavy boxes. We are looking for people who might be willing to commit to a regular shift. Please contact Jennifer Ulrich ulrichjm@comcast.net
