Mennonite Disaster Services:
Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) needs volunteers!
Mennonite Disaster Service is building bridges in West Virginia. Each bridge that is built meets the West Virginia state expectations for a personal bridge of an approved family. Volunteers assist in the wood construction, painting, ecological landscaping around the bridge area, some heavy equipment operation, and assist in placing the bridge in its permanent location. Attached is a link to see some of the work. https://wvvoad.communityos.org/cms/resilientlybridgingthegap. Scroll down to see the pictures of bridges completed.
The primary need each week is a skilled track hoe operator, 6 energetic persons to provide physical labor, and a cook for each week. In order to volunteer, please contact Darin Bontrager, Weekly Crew Volunteer Placement Coordinator at Mennonite Disaster Service, to immediately to arrange your volunteer service. He can be reached at 717 735 3536 and ask for Darin.
As MDS reviews their personnel needs for the immediate work schedules, they are in urgent need of volunteers.
May 28-June 3: we need 6 volunteers and a cook
June 4-10: we need 2 volunteers, already have a cook
June 11-17: we need 5 volunteers and a cook (1 heavy equipment operator is needed)
